Aluminum Clad Steel Wire 20.3%IACS
Aluminum Clad Steel Wire/Strand is used for the cord of ACSR/AW or used for the OPGW.
1.Constructions
Aluminium clad steel wire/strand is composed of round reinforced steel and uniform aluminium layer outside.
Aluninium clad steel strand is composed of stranded aluminium clad steel wires.
2.Specification
ASTM B-502 Hard-Drawn Aluminum-Clad Steel Wire
ASTM B-415Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum-Clad Steel Conductors
3.Features
(1)The thick aluminum cladding on each wire offers optimum protection against atmospheric corrosion while providing the conductivity important in proper operation of protective relays.
(2)Alumoweld overhead ground wire provides one-third the conductivity of an aluminum conductor of equal size, and several times the conductivity of steel, because of its thick aluminum cladding. The high conductivity of Alumoweld strand reduces the temperature rise of the static wire under fault current conditions.
(3)Its strength and conductivity are permanent in any atmosphere where aluminum is satisfactory, especially those known to be corrosive from industrial or atmospheric conditions.
(4)Alumoweld strand also provides strength equal to or greater than other overhead ground wires.
(5) Due to its thick cladding of aluminum, Alumoweld is 15 percent lighter than a steel strand of equivalent size. This lighter weight, combined with high strength, permits Alumoweld strand to be strung to the same sags as steel with correspondingly lower tensions and lower stresses on the towers or supporting structures.
4.Application
(1)Aluminium clad steel wire/strand is used for various voltage level power transmission lines , overhead transmission lines and overhead ground wires.
(2)It can also be applied in various special areas with long span length, coastal areas and island as well as other hot and humid regions, salt fog regions and heavily polluted regions where the high corrosion resistance strand is needed.
(3)Aluminium clad steel wire/strand can also be used as messanger wire for electrified railways.
